Printkey 2000 is really just another screen printing tool. It’s a bit dated in its design and I’ve had it crash on me a couple of times over the years, but it has some great features that are hard to find in other screenshot apps. Here are some of the reasons people may still use PrintKey 2000 still:
- Print button – yup you can print your screenshots for quick screen grabs on the go.
- Configurable hotkeys – lets you define what keys you want to use to grab a screen print.
- Adjust and re-size screenshots – Control brightness contrast and re-size screen grabs right in the tool.
- Configurable grab options – Define your favorite hotkey to take an object, full screen or defined area print.
Printkey 2000 is free, but the download site is kind of shady. That’s why I’m re-posting the software here: Rapidshare mixmeister fusion full.

NOTE: Printkey 2000 does not work well on Windows 10. I get lots of comments about this, but there is no fix because Printkey is simply too old to work well on Windows 10. The good news is that there are lots of free alternatives to Printkey. One of them is Greenshot. Greenshot is a versatile screen capture utility similar to Printkey that’s available for free.

Starting with Windows 10 build 17661, currently referred to as 'Redstone 5', Microsoft implemented a new option - screen snipping. A new Screen Snip feature has been added to Windows 10 to quickly snip and share a screenshot. You can use the Print Screen key to launch screen snipping. Here is how.

Using the new tool, you can capture a rectangle, snip a freeform area, or take a full screen capture, and copy it directly to the clipboard. Immediately after taking a snip you’ll now get a notification that will take you and your snip to the Screen Sketch app where you can annotate and share away. In the current implementation, other traditional tools available in the Snipping Tool (Delay, Window snip, and ink color, etc) are missing.
See the following article:
It is possible to enable the Print Screen Key to launch Screen Snipping in Windows 10. This option is disabled by default. A new toggle switch can be found in Settings which controls this feature.
